The Mind is Like a Parachute...

Recently I was doing some research and I came across some comments about one of my favorite shows Downton Abbey. There was a scene in the show where the kitchen staff was using the Ouija Board. Some of the people were commenting that they felt that they shouldn't watch the show, even though they loved it, because the use of the Ouija Board was against their religion. This got me thinking...

Just be because we don't agree with something or condemn something doesn't mean we should ignore or deny the subject. In order to understand the past we must acknowledge the past and learn from it. If I have books on World War II or the Nazi's on my bookshelf doesn't mean I am a Nazi. To condemn or disagree with something you must at learn about it from all sides. It only strengthens your convictions or perhaps helps you understand why things happen.

Our world is made up of different points of view and if we do not accept it and follow a blind point of view then we are doomed.

One of my favorite sayings is: "The mind id like a parachute, in order for it to work it must be open".

And that is just my thoughts...
Thanks for listening!

Imposing our will on spirit...

I have been investigating the paranormal for many years now and one thing that has always bothered me is how some people do not accept what a spirit is telling them. It seems that they at times refuse to hear what is being told to them in a spirit communication session.

For example:

I have been in a table tipping session when someone asked the spirit through the table if they were a male?
 The table answered "no".
They then asked "Are you John "xxxxx"?
 The table answered "no".
This was followed by "Did you kill your wife John?"
The table answered "no".
They continued: "Are you sorry you killed your wife John?"
You get the idea...

No matter what the answers were they were ignored.
Is this really spirit communication or just spirit interrogation?

And that is just my thoughts...

Spirit Boards - They are Just a Game?

Over a decade ago when I first started hosting Spectral Evidence as part of the Festival of the Dead in Salem Massachusetts, I would ask the audience: "Who believes the Ouija Board is Evil?" That first  year approximately 80 percent of the audience raised their hand. Through the years it has dramatically dropped to about 40 percent.
What is the driving force behind those who believe it is evil? Is it Hollywood's portrayal  of it in movies like Witch Board, the Exorcist, and more recently Ouija? Is it because of some traumatic experience they had as teenagers, when they  used it with their friends? Or is it because of their religious beliefs?
Whatever it is they are quite adamant about it. When pressed for a reason the number one answer is: "You don't know what will come through." If this is true, then most of the methods we use in paranormal investigating are just as dangerous. Whether it is EVP's, Ghost Boxes, K-2 meters, loose flashlights, or even asking for a sign from a spirit,  they all fall into that same category. You are inviting spirit to come through.
You may not agree with me and many don't but I will tell you like I tell all of the people I work with: "If you are not comfortable in doing something, then DON'T DO IT!"
Whether in paranormal investigating or life in general, Trust you heart! It is seldom wrong!
And that is just my thoughts...
Thanks for listening!

Who speaks for the dead?

Through the years I have interviewed and worked with many mediums. Some well known, others not so much, but one thing has always bothered me, what if what  they are telling  us is incorrect?

It is not the ordinary things that they tell us that bothers me, but rather the negative information that they tell us that does bother me. Sometimes they are quick to announce that this person was a murdered, sex abuser, thief,  criminal  and so on and so on. But is it the truth?

Have they done any research to prove that what they are saying is true?
Are there any newspaper articles or any other legal documentation backing up their claims?

NO?  Then are they ethically or morally entitled to say such thing?

They will tell us that although this person is dead, his spirit is still with us. How would that spirit feel if what they were saying was false? How would the living relatives feel hearing that their father, grand father, whoever was a pedophile?

If it is false, is it not slander?
Could a relative sue and what course does the dead have?

I  truly believe that  mediums believe that what they are saying is true, but what if it is not?
Who speaks for the dead.?
